Disease Prevention thru FREE Nutrition Education Workshop
Adults- Do You Feel Tired – Are You Overweight? Are your Kids eating the wrong kinds of food? Are you getting enough exercise? Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, High Blood Pressure, Congenital Heart Disease, Diabetes and Obesity are just some of the major health problems affecting our community today.
FREE Nutrition Education Workshops are available and will include four sessions directed to the food pyramid, reading food labels, eating the right color of vegetables, disease prevention and exercise. The program also includes a FREE taste testing dinner for the entire family, FREE games and activities for children to participate in and FREE child care for children under age 5.
FREE Nutrition Education Workshops will be offered at Veteran’s Hall located at 313 W. Tunnell in Santa Maria on April 24, May 1, 8 & 15 from 5:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
FREE Nutrition Education Workshops are made possible through a grant from the Gold Coast Collaborative and partners such as the City of Santa Maria Families for the First Decade, Northern Santa Barbara County United Way, Marian Medical Center, YMCA, Children’s Health Initiative, First 5 Santa Barbara County, Health Linkages Program, Tres Condados Girl Scouts, Santa Barbara County Education Office, and Aspira.
The Program offers FREE Nutrition Education Workshops to low income families. Families must pre-register to attend by calling Naomi Vera at 805.739.3586.
